COP21 side event: A European Union Initiative Supporting Climate Resilience

EU Flagship Event: Global Perspectives on Adaptation

cop21The Directorate-General for Development and Cooperation, together with the Global Climate Change Alliance+ organised a side event to showcase efforts to help Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Small Island Developing States (SIDS) deal with the impacts of climate change. The event took place on the sidelines of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Conference of Parties (COP 21) in Paris.

Following a welcome address, a film was aired to show the initiative’s impact with the example of a successful project in northern Ethiopa.

GCCA+ introduced the experience on the ground through case studies from Chad, Myanmar and the Maldives.

These cases led into a moderated panel discussion and Q&A. The successful event concluded with a cocktail reception for participants to network and share experiences.
