Climate Smart Agriculture Programme in Mauritius

Les Serres du Sud consists of approximately two acres of greenhouses and six acres of open fields, where they cultivate peppers, lettuce, tomato, butternut squash, and many other vegetables and fruits. This Gender Empowerment and Climate Smart Agriculture project in Mauritius is conducted in collaboration between the Mauritius Chamber of Agriculture and the Food and Agricultural Research Extension Institute, and is financed by the Global Climate Change Alliance Plus (GCCA+), a European Union (EU) initiative. Over 65% of the project’s staff members are women, in an ongoing effort to support gender empowerment through economic protection and skills training.
