Fridays for Climate | Tanzania : The resilience of Maasai thanks to biogas stoves

In Arusha, Northern Tanzania, deforestation exacerbates drought in the region. 🌍
The EU funded ECOBOMA programme is helping Maasai pastoralists become more resilient to the impacts of climate change.

The GCCA+ project supports energy efficiency and renewable energy by providing biogas stoves fuelled with cow dung to help communities notably to prepare their food and keep it warm. Villagers no longer need to cut down trees for firewood and it gives the opportunity to the trees to regrow. 🌳

Namaiyani Lenjori, a Maasai pastoralist, used to pick up firewood from the forest which delayed the cooking process.  🔥
“Now all my problems have disappeared. It is easy to prepare hot tea or food”
- Namaiyani Lenjor
