In Nauru, Marshall Islands, climate change and extreme weather conditions affect the quality and quantity of water resources available for the residents. 🌎 The accessibility to potable water is a major concern as the small land relies only on desalinated water, rainwater harvesting and groundwater to meet the households needs.
According to mini population census conducted in 2019, more than 250 households are classified as vulnerable. 30% do not have more than 5000 litre of water storage and either the elderly or people with disabilities are living there.
The Scaling Up Pacific Adaptation (SUPA) project of GCCA+ aims to provide new water tanks to store desalinated water for about 50 vulnerable households. 💦
