Protecting the Amazon Forest in Suriname

Protecting the Amazon Forest in Suriname

In Suriname, the Forest Rangers, a group of young men and women, are trained to support the conservation of the Amazon forest 🌿🎋.

On the Matawai Maroon territory, the Rangers Fransje, Domitsio and Priscilla collect data to improve local monitoring 📝. The Forest Conservation project aims to protect biodiversity, deter incursions and prevent environmentally destructive practices in forestry areas of the country🍃. Through this programme, conservation rangers are also able to understand the food safety measures in relation to sustainable land use and climate change that can contribute to income generation.
