Smart Agriculture techniques in Madagascar

"Since I have been using Climate Smart Agriculture as a method, my harvests have doubled and workloads have decreased.
- Emilson, farmer & beneficiary of the GCCA+ programme in Madagascar 🧑🏿‍🌾

In the rural village of Vinany in Madagascar, farmers are purifying and weeding rice fields 🌱. The MANITATRA II program, launched in the village by GCCA+, aims to develop Climate Smart Agriculture for a better conservation of soils and forests.

Through this project, 1 500 000 trees will be planted to contribute to reforestation and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 🌳 . MANITATRA II will also provide an extension of rainfed rice and improve the hygiene of milk production in the context of food security. Moreover, 2000 students from 12 different schools in Madagascar will enjoy agroecology training from the farmers’ organizations
