10 new #climate smart #agriculture pilot projects launched by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) under the #GCCAPlus West Africa project.
The ten projects are spread across 7 West African countries (Cape Verde, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Nigeria and Sierra Leone) and will be implemented over a period of 20 months with a total budget of €2.3 million.
The wide range of themes covered by the projects includes: innovation in the food value chain in Cape Verde for an ecological and inclusive economy; agroforestry systems, a smart alternative to combat climate change on the island of Santo Antão; development of smart farming tools to improve irrigation efficiency in the West Coast region of The Gambia.
This second call for project proposals was launched within the framework of the GCCA+ West Africa project, funded by the European Union and implemented by Expertise France under the political and institutional leadership of ECOWAS and in technical partnership with the Permanent Interstate Committee for Drought Control in the Sahel (CILSS).
