Funded by the European Union, the West Africa component of the Global Climate Change Alliance Plus (GCCA + West Africa) aims to accelerate climate action in 17 African states.
The project, which started its activities in 2019 presents a first assessment of its first year of implementation, which has laid the foundations for strong climate action in the West African region.
Among the many objectives of the GCCA + project one example is the creation of a training offer on climate change in the region. The 2019-2020 cycle of the "Climate Change and Sustainable Development" master's degree trained 25 West African students, including 20 GCCA + West Africa scholarship holders, including 9 women.
GCCA + West Africa is implemented by Expertise France, with the support of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the Permanent Interstate Committee for Drought Control in the Sahel ( CILSS) as a technical partner.
